Lucius - A Different Touch

"When Lucius was born on the date of June 6th, 1966, nobody expected him to be anything other than a normal little boy. His childhood, spent in the luxurious manor on the private estate of his father, a US Governor, was as normal as every kid’s young years, excluding the extreme wealth of his parents.
The night before Lucius turns 6, the Devil appears in his dreams and identifies himself as Lucius's "real father". The Devil tasks his son with aiding the powers of evil in taking over the world. Lucius kicks off this global takeover by first murdering every member of his household, including staff, in order to obtain his father's vast fortune and make use of the political power associated with his name."

This is the description given of Lucius, the stealth/horror game developed by Shiver Games, it follows the story of the titular character Lucius. The six year old inheritor of an ancient evil. The title of the Antichrist, Lucifer the devil himself acts as your tutor and guide in a story of supernatural murder, betrayal and insanity. killing off the members of the Dante Manor household. Lucius gives us a thrilling look into the make belief life of a pre pubescent antichrist, a mute creepy pale child who has multiple powers. Making things erupt into flame, moving things with your mind and mind control, all this gives a feeling of power, but also doesn't really justify the gameplay.

Most of the time you barely have any idea what you should do, the game gives you barely any clues and you have to search in depth to discover what to do. For example when killing Alistair the family butler the only clues you get are is if you search the mansion, do a side mission to get a clue. This makes the game haulting and at times pauses the game till you find a way or resort to a YouTube walkthrough. The voice acting in this games is off, with awkward pauses in conversations at one point where Lucius' schizophrenic mother finds one of the servants has been murdered with a few seconds pause between reacting with shock and horror. Lucifer sounds like a creepy old man whos trying to play Daddy.

Some quality  father and Son time

The graphics give off a feel of creepiness while also the less than original darkness this not being a bad thing. The camera angles can be awkward and less than co-operative. But does not steal the spotlight from the game itself as it is an original and fun game, stressful at times but still manages to be good.

All in all I believe this to be a good game, though lacking in voice acting and a way to make it simpler to know what you're doing at least, furthermore I would suggest this game to someone else but would at least warn them of the puzzle elements. which make this game quite hard to play.

I'd give this game a 7/10
